Rubert Burley

Mr. Burley began his professional career with the Pittsburgh Public Schools teaching history at Schenley High School and later at Westinghouse High School where he also served as basketball coach and vice principal.  He was later appointed to the Office of Multicultural Education with the Pittsburgh Public Schools and served as the chief trainer for the school district mediation program and trained more than 600 professionals and students as mediators.    Recently Mr. Burley was appointed a "Master Trainer" by the Peacemakers Corps, (a HUD initiative) and a Master Consultant by the Bayer Foundation for Non-Profit Management specializing in diversity training.  

He has provided training in the areas of classroom management, conflict resolution, mediation, and diversity for a number of school districts, organizations and corporations including Detroit, MI School District, The Child Development Program at Yale University, Allegheny County Children, Youth, and Families, Philadelphia PA. School District, Navajo Housing Authority, Chicago ILL. School District, The IRS, Houston Texas School District, NABSE Conference, Charleston, SC School District, Texas A & M University, and The Pittsburgh Public Schools.   

A member of Who's Who Among American Educators and Pittsburgh Westinghouse High School Hall of Fame; he is a sought after speaker and training leader. His workshop "THE BUCK STOPS HERE!" was nominated for the HUD Best Practices Award and is used as the blueprint for many school districts’ conflict resolution programs.   Mr. Burley has been honored by many organizations for his contributions.  His work has been chronicled nationally and has been on display at Simon Property Malls across the United States.  He and his wife Anita reside in Pittsburgh, PA and have 2 grown children.
